What is a loser

From now and then, I will try to something different. More like a speaker's corner and write something that I feel strongly about.

To me, loser is a very strong word. It is not just a word to scold people, but is a word that took away hope, will and determination from someone. Maybe it may sound different for you, but this word affects me greatly and I will remember any person who said that to me.

The general definition of a loser is someone who loses in the game. I have checked both the dictionary and wikipedia to find a deeper meaning to it but it turn out to be in vain. Before we take a look what makes a loser, we should start from its roots and look how this word begins. People use this word for different reason, some use it to mock people for losing a game, some use it to scold people and others use it blindly (kids).

Using the word loser is simple, yet its effects are devastating. If you already had lost a few games, and someone mock you with it, it will be both hurtful and destructive. When someone loses, his confidence fall and become confused. And when the loser word comes in, the likely effect will be anger, and turns to sadness. At worse, he may turn hopeless and gives up. This simple word has quite a destructive impact. And for some reason, this word applies to every aspect of life. For example, when that is a guy who experiences failure in relationship and sports, and the loser word is targeted at him, even the intent is on sports, it will have a profound effect on his relationship as well. This is the human nature where different aspects are inter-related to each other just like the food we eat is distributed to the whole body.

In my belief, you can finally acknowledge and call someone a loser when he had given up his life. Someone who don’t even want to try entering the battlefield and gives up the war. When you never try something out, you will not know the answer. The chances to win may be slim, but when is there any battle fought with 100% chance of victory. Even you lose in the end, you will gain something in return. (That is why you dun use the word “loser”). Only those who have experiences disappointment will become strong. Most of the successful people in the world had encountered countless disappointment before they reached the top. Loser is a word and encouragement to give up. If you use it, it will take away his determination to fight what he believed in. Not to mention the pain you might caused to him because everybody is afraid to lose.

In conclusion, I believe a loser is someone who gives up rather than one who loses a game. So refrain from using it on someone.
